Putting Rev into Revolution - DMT Development Systems Group

by Michael Pistol

In an ideal world, the upside of an economic downturn is that normally people are opening up to new ideas - hence the current consumer's sudden embrace of the small car. If recent news is of any indication, major changes are afoot, and consequently what's going on right now in parts of the industry, resembles more to war than to war planning. Even the most Pollyannaish optimists are starting now to wonder...
According to the latest forecast from JD Power and Associates, hammered by an increasingly week economy, the U.S. vehicle sales are projected to fall to their lowest levels in 15 years - to about 14,2 million units or about 12% lower than last year. So far Canada has been protected by a reasonably healthy economy, and accordingly, car sales have been quite healthy by any standards. Yet, some are already seeing cloudy horizons ahead as compelling evidence shows that the trends may be about to change. The question is - do you wait for war, or you start war planning?
If you are a planning type, this story may be of some interest to you...

As in any business, hardware - product, that is - is crucial. However, as the automotive product planning is practically all done outside of Canada, the issue of product portfolio composition is largely irrelevant. Which leaves us to tweak only with the retail, service, A&R activities and the likes - and as such, it doesn't take much to realize that the common management platform for these activities it's the Internet.

And this is precisely where Manitoba's DMT Development Systems Group comes in.
